Explore the basics of cutting, bending, and welding all in one condensed, interactive format. Using FMA’s textbook Metal Fabrication: A Practical Guide, the workshop follows the full process of metal fabrication. Training is augmented by extensive shop time with college faculty and industry experts.
On the last day, you'll have the option of taking FMA's Metal Fabrication Fundamentals certificate exam. This exam is normally offered to technical school students at the end of their semester, but you’ll cover the main concepts in three days of training! A certificate will be awarded to those individuals successfully pass the assessment. (Note that while an industry-recognized credential, the certificate does not imply the designation of a professional certification nor does it require renewal.
Class time is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. all three days, with each day focused on one technology (cutting, forming, and welding). Lunch and snacks are provided. You'll receive your own copy of Metal Fabrication: A Practical Guide ($77 value).Through hands-on demonstrations and practice with the equipment at Harper College, you'll be able to fabricate and complete your own take-home project.
Attendees will have the option of tours at Bystronic USA and the TRUMPF Smart Factory in Hoffman Estates (per host approval).
FMA Members can apply for a 50k5 Education Pass to cover the cost of this course.
