String lights make for a dreamy ambiance.

It could be a remote paradise for someone who doesn’t mind a minimalist retreat.

A newly built, two-story home at 94-6531 Pele Street in Naalehu — located on the southernmost tip of Hawaii — is on the market for $159,000, down from its original asking price of $165,000.

The home is largely open to the ocean breeze.

The property is in the heart of the Ka’ū Forest Reserve.

The isolated getaway in the heart of the Ka’ū Forest Reserve is lined with bamboo walls, with most of the rooms largely open to the ocean breeze. It offers "stunning'' distant views of the mountains, according to the Zillow listing, and is a six-minute walk from Bee Boys, a popular local honey farm. The Discovery Harbor Golf Course, Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park and Big Island Farm Sanctuary are within driving distance. The house is also just five minutes away from the beach.

“It’s a very unique property,” listing agent Ivory Kalber told SFGATE, describing the home as “the perfect blend between modern and stylish, cost efficient and green.”

The residence has a single 100-square-foot bedroom and a covered lanai on the upper level, perfect for dining al fresco.

The kitchen has a fridge powered by a photovoltaic system.

The bathroom is enclosed by bamboo walls.

It’s ideal for an eco-minded individual – the home is outfitted with a photovoltaic system and six solar panels that power the lights, radio and refrigerator, plus a rainwater catchment system and a wind turbine. Outside, you’ll find a bonfire pit and a hammock tethered to the trees for whiling the day away with a good book.

“I think it would be perfect for a single person or a couple looking for a lifestyle change… [Someone] looking to live closely with the land, with a very light carbon footprint,” said Kalber.

Kalber told the New York Post she assisted the owner of the home in buying the quarter-acre of land about a year ago, where he built the property from scratch, and now hopes to sell it as he moves to Portugal.

The home is on the market for $159,000.
