Spotlight: The Manhattan Beach Art Center’s annual community art exhibition is on display through Oct. 2. The exhibition features diverse and innovative artworks ranging from photography and paintings to sound generating sculpture and woven fiber. More than seventy artists are featured. Adopt a Child for a Day

The P.S. I Love You Foundation and Fablectics will give 300 at-risk children a day at the beach on Sept. 10. This will mark the 21st annual Adopt a Child for a Day celebration in Manhattan Beach. Summer concerts at Manhattan Village

Summer Concerts have returned to Manhattan Village, 3200 N Sepulveda Blvd., Manhattan Beach. There’s live music 6-8 p.m. every Thursday in The Plaza through Aug. 25. Summer concerts at The Point

The Point in El Segundo welcomes visitors to the Sounds of Summer, a family-friendly music series that takes place from 6–8 p.m. every Wednesday through Sept. 28. Summer concerts at Polliwog Park

Manhattan Beach’s annual Concerts in the Park series, presented by Chevron, continues with Psychedelic Summer Band, a Woodstock-era tribute band. The series features a concert every Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the Polliwog Park amphitheater through Sept. 4. Concert-goers are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnics. Admission is free. Polliwog is located at 1601 Manhattan Beach Blvd. 

Camila Lima, an American/Argentinean soprano, will give a concert at The Neighborhood Church of Palos Verdes, 415 Paseo del mar, Palos Verdes Estates. She will be accompanied by pianist and composer Ruy Folguera. This is the final concert in the church’s Summer Sunday Sounds series. Admission is free. Bring a picnic at 5:30 p.m. and settle in before the concert starts at 6:30. No tickets or reservations required. Seating is provided. For more information, go to ncpve.org.

The Power of Thoughts and Words

Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay) is offering this free workshop led by Camela Galano, a cancer survivor and life coach. Galano will discuss how thoughts and words can create a person’s reality. Participants will learn how to be kind and gentle to themselves and let go of limiting thoughts and words. Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay) is offering this free workshop led by cancer survivor and physician assistant Janet Solie. Participants will learn the secret weapon that they carry to reduce stress. Solie will also share heart based science for stress management, present short heart based meditation techniques and more.
