Fiesta Hermosa returns Labor Day weekend, Saturday, Sept. 3 through Monday, Sept. 5. There will be four days of live music from four different areas: on the beach, in the Garden where beer and other libations are poured; Java Man on Pier Avenue; and at the Community Center carnival. The Hermosa Beach Chamber-sponsored weekend features more than 200 vendors, plenty of food and drink options, carnival rides, a petting zoo, a sidewalk sale and art walk. Shuttle service  will run between the Northrop Grumman lot at 1 Space Park Drive, Redondo Beach and Fiesta Hermosa from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m each day of the festival. The Manhattan Beach Art Center’s annual community art exhibition is on display through Oct. 2. The exhibition features diverse and innovative artworks ranging from photography and paintings to sound generating sculpture and woven fiber. More than seventy artists are featured. This marks the center’s fifth annual community art exhibition. The center is located at 1560 Manhattan Beach Blvd. across from Polliwog Park and is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Summer concerts at The Point

The Point in El Segundo welcomes visitors to the Sounds of Summer, a family-friendly music series that takes place from 6–8 p.m. every Wednesday through Sept. 28. Every week features a new musician or band with tunes ranging from folk rock to reggae. The Point is located at 850 S. Pacific Coast Highway. Adopt a Child for a Day

The P.S. I Love You Foundation and Fablectics will give 300 at-risk children a day at the beach on Sept. 10. This will mark the 21st annual Adopt a Child for a Day celebration in Manhattan Beach. Hermosa Beach Rotary hosts a Certified Farmers Market every Friday, noon to 4 p.m., at 1035 Valley Drive.

Richstone will once again be hosting its annual Beach Party in King Harbor, Redondo Beach. Set for 5:30-9 p.m., the party will feature premiere South Bay restaurants serving great food. Guests can enjoy fine wine, beer and signature cocktails to the sounds of a live steel drum, then dance the night away with the Citrus College Night Shift Band. The Hermosa Beach Historical Society & Museum will hold its gala fundraiser at St. Cross Church, 1818 Monterey Blvd. Doors open at 6 p.m. The theme is “Beach through the Decades.” Enjoy live music, dancing, raffle prizes, drinks and food provided by The Bottle Inn and Slay Beach. From 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Hermosa Beach community members can chat with Hermosa Beach Mayor Mike Detoy and help give Edith Rodaway Friendship Park a fresh look. Fifteen to twenty volunteers are needed to help paint. The park address is 350 Prospect Ave, Hermosa Beach.

Summer concerts at Polliwog Park

Manhattan Beach’s annual Concerts in the Park series, presented by Chevron, continues with the Lucky Ones, a South Bay rock-reggae band. The series features a concert every Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the Polliwog Park amphitheater through Sept. 4. Concert-goers are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnics. Admission is free. Polliwog is located at 1601 Manhattan Beach Blvd.

Cancer Support Community South Bay is offering this free workshop led by cancer survivor and physician assistant Janet Solie. Participants will learn the secret weapon that they carry to reduce stress. Solie will also share heart based science for stress management, present short heart based meditation techniques and more. The workshop is from noon-1:15 p.m. at 2601 Airport Drive, Suite 100, Torrance. Participants may attend online in they prefer. Cancer Support: Federal Health Benefit Laws

Cancer Support Community South Bay is offering this free workshop led by representatives from the Department of Labor Employee Benefits Security Administration and Covered California. Participants will learn about federal health benefit laws, including COVID 19 legislation related to COBRA, ACA, MediCal, and other health insurance related questions. Portuguese Bend National Horse Show

The 64th Annual Portuguese Bend National Horse Show will be held Sept. 9-11 at Ernie Howlett Park, 25851 Hawthorne Blvd., Rolling Hills Estates. The daily hours are 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. This highly regarded A-rated horse show has two fully scheduled rings offering a wide variety of classes, including the prestigious PCHA Horsemanship Medal Finals. There will also be food booths, boutiques and events for children, including magic shows, pony rides and face painting. Proceeds benefit The Associates Chair in Endocrinology and The Associates Chair in Transplant Surgery at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. General admission tickets are $5. South Coast Cactus & Succulent Society

The presenter for September is Steven Frieze, whose talk is titled, “Adventures in Namaqualand: The Beauty and Exotic Quality of South African Succulents.” Steven will speak about a variety of succulents he saw growing while traveling north from Cape Town to Springbok in an area of South Africa known as Namaqualand. The 45th annual Manhattan Beach 10K is set for Oct. 1 with a start time of 7:30 a.m. Experience one of the most scenic 10K courses in the South Bay and enjoy live music and a post-race expo at the finish line. Over 3,500 runners will take to the streets for this moderate to slightly difficult course through downtown and residential Manhattan Beach, finishing at the Manhattan Beach Pier. This year’s race is designated the RRCA California State 10K Championship. For those would like to “Run Your Own Race” there is a virtual option. Registration costs range from $25-$40.
